With the self-narrated death of George Floyd, our collective cup hath runneth over. We’re done. America has completed its journey to Damascus. We can see clearly now. And we must be heard. Arrests made during a full-blown pandemic could be a death sentence. 

The punishment should fit the crime. Since crimes against property are not capital crimes no one should die for destroying property. Most police departments don’t have enough PPE to protect themselves. Therefore, there is no way to protect the detainees from COVID. Holding cells, police stations, local and county jails are incubators for Coronavirus. 

Politicians, business and property owners, law enforcement agencies, and frightened citizens want to take a militarized approach to quell the civil disobedience and destruction of property. That won’t work because you don’t have the numbers. You can’t arrest everyone. And it seems like there is a reluctance to engage with many protesters because they are white which is another glaring example of white privilege in America. 

However, that pales in comparison to the Minnesota State Police arresting a CNN reporter while he was doing his job on live TV with all the proper credentials around his neck, yet Minnesota took 4 days to arrest Derek Chauvin who callously put his knee on Mr. Floyd’s neck and committed an intentional murder in broad daylight while being filmed by multiple people like it was a TV show. 

The reason it took 4 days to arrest him was that they were hoping to find drugs in Mr. George Floyd’s body during a toxicology report. Even if he was high on meth, oxy, cocaine, and fentanyl, the cause of death was a knee on his neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. 

Due to the civil unrest, the State decided they had to arrest the Killer Cop Chauvin. So, they charged him with third-degree murder. They’re saying he didn’t intend to kill Mr. Floyd, but his actions showed a depraved indifference to human life which resulted in a death. 

In order to prove intentional murder, you have to have mens rea. Mens rea is criminal intent. In the complaint filed against the killer cop, it states that Derek Chauvin held his knee on the neck of Mr. Floyd for 2 minutes and 53 seconds after another officer checked for a pulse and found Mr. Floyd unresponsive. At that point, Chauvin had a choice; render aid, or hold his position. He chose to hold his position as he bounced his knee on Mr. Floyd’s neck with hands in his pockets while he was waiting for his intended outcome. DEATH.

As to Chauvin’s accomplices to his televised execution of an unarmed, subdued, handcuffed, gentle giant, begging for air, while narrating his own death, they will not escape justice. It’s just a matter of who will be the first snitch to take a deal.

So, as these young people walk through the valley of the shadow of death, they fear no evil because they are not alone. If they are willing to risk their lives to protest, for a stranger, they are not afraid to die. 

They are not afraid of your AUTHORITY. This is your second pandemic.
