As the Floyd Flu pandemic spreads across America, governmental officials are perplexed. Yet the message is clear. But the powers that be, are not listening. AMERICA NOW HAS A SECOND PANDEMIC.
You can’t arrest the pain and anger that is spreading across America like a plague because of Mr. George Floyd’s untimely death. Your militarized law enforcement posture is unsustainable for various reasons. This virus cannot be stopped with rubber bullets and tear gas or zip ties.
This Floyd Flu is not just about the death of one black man by the hands of the police. This is not even just about the death of all the black men and women killed by police in America.
This is not only about the death of Mr. George Floyd. This is not only about the treatment by the police of Tamir Rice, Breonna Taylor, Philando Castile, Michael Brown, Freddie Gray, Atatiana Jefferson, Eric Garner, Amadou Diallo, Abner Louima, or Rodney King. If Dr. Martin Luther King could rise from the dead today, even he could not stop this virus -the Floyd Flu.
Police brutality, systemic racism, and the prejudicial law enforcement authority granted by law are the keys to the answer of how to solve this problem.
The entire law enforcement structure in America is infected with a disease. Their disease includes racism, sexism, white supremacy, cronyism, corruption, and covering up criminal activity. It’s like they have a Blue Flu. It has infected some, but not all, in the entire judicial system. The police officers, the prosecutors, the correction officers, the judges, and even the politicians who write the laws are like a Syndicate. La Familia.
The police are supposed to protect and serve that’s their motto. But in reality, police departments are designed to protect the haves, from the have-nots. And serve the haves, not so much the have-nots. That is the design of our American judicial system.
Not all law-enforcement agencies are infected with the Blue Flu. Not all police officers believe in the Blue Wall. The problem with the blue wall is there many shades of blue behind that wall. And being dark blue doesn’t always favor you.
The Floyd Flu virus that is sweeping the nation. It’s not about reparations for slavery. We don’t want payback. We don’t want your money. We want your privilege.
Give us the privilege you have enjoyed for 400 years to be able to be treated as an individual human being in pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness. We want the same rights, privileges, and treatment that you have and we have not.
To stop the Floyd Flu, politicians, and police departments you have some housecleaning to do. The change that is coming will be painful. However, how painful that is to your city will be up to you.
